At the present stage, it is very important for the state to implement economic education programs and to increase the level of the population’s awareness. With this purpose Woman and Economy working group was created in 2001.

In 2001-2002 the working group implemented Social-Economic Status of Women, Reality and Perspectives project.

In 2003-2004 the group implemented Assistance to Women in Social-Economic Processes of Tbilisi project.

In June 2004, for the first time in Georgia, seminar-training On Gender Budget was held.

In 2004-2005 the group implemented the project Assistance to Women’s Participation in the Social-Economic Processes of High-mountainous regions. To study social-economic status, two regions, Racha and Svaneti, were chosen. Other Georgian mountainous regions are considered for the future. The group actively participates in the project of state action plan on providing gender equality in economic, financial and social blocs.
